Hello Colleagues, Does summer seem like a past memory? For me, the sure sign of impending winter is the conclusion of the ASIS International Seminar and Exhibits, and this year in Orlando it was a fantastic event. Canada Night in particular was very well delivered and it was great to see many of my fellow Edmonton chapter members there. Funny, I never saw any of them after that.....it was certainly a "good" night.... Speaking of our fine chapter, the term of many of our executive leadership is coming to a close. This includes myself as Chapter Chair. Several members of the team have also expressed their intentions to leave their positions so this November election will be "wide-open". I encourage our membership to look seriously toward seeking a leadership role in our chapter. I especially encourage those of you that are "Young Professionals" in our industry looking toward a fruitful and rewarding career. Please consider the following. ASIS International membership and volunteer participation has been (and still is) one of the best things to have happened in my professional life. Most of my dearest local and international friends I met through ASIS. I directly contribute my local, regional and international business success to collaboration through ASIS. I also credit the Society for guiding me through my younger years in this industry to where I am today. To the more senior members of our chapter, I challenge you to stay involved and mentor our young professionals. I encourage you to provide for them the wisdom of your experience and wealth of your knowledge. You know, I have the utmost feeling of satisfaction and fullfillment for returning to a local leadership role. It has been fabulously rewarding. Working with the hardworking, professional and committed team on the executive has been outstanding, and I thank each one of them for that pleasure. This is a tremendous opportunity to step forward and contribute directly to professional security management development and recognition in Edmonton, Alberta and Canada. I encourage you to seriously look toward helping our chapter continue to grow and prosper. You will all be hearing from our 2011 Elections Chair, Mr. Tim McCrieght, CPP, CISSP in the next few weeks. Please consider participating in the adventure. Finally, thank you all for your support and contributions toward making Edmonton and Northern Alberta an outstanding chapter. We're copied by many and envied by more.
